Christmas Light Tour for Purrty Mouth

YHC saw the Q open for Thursday (normal but seems to always workout for Revolution)  Weather forecast was calling for temps in the 40’s with rain.  I knew one thing was for sure I wanted no part of the cold, wet ground so I jumped on the Q. Wasn’t expecting many with the weather forecast but 8 strong got better together.

Around mid day, Purrty Mouth ask his normal question. Who has the Q? I responded with “Me, show up!  Taking you on a tour of the Christmas lights downtown so your candy a$$ doesn't have to get on the ground today.  He thought no ground work was all about him!

Warmup: a couple of minutes of stretching and arm circles as we wait on the Nuclear engineers to arrive and with hopes of a Lazyboy sighting (he would have complained all 45 mins,  boy hates cardio!)

Derkins using the 13 park benches has become a standard in Q's so off we went. Start with 1 and increase to 13 at the last park bench.

At this point Purrty was starting to get upset about not seeing the Christmas lights so lets go find some lil buddy.

30 minutes mosey stopping every so often to do a variety of exercises. Mountain climbers, squats, bear crawls, LBC (atleast I kept us off the ground for the most part), I Surrenders and few others.

Stopped in front of Bizzel's to take Purrty pic under the Christmas lights but he refused since that didn't have a jolly old man's lap for him to sit on.  Maybe we can get Krispy to come with us on our next tour.

A big crowd pleaser was the flower box's in front of the Y where we performed: Step-ups, Burpee Stepups, Side Stepups, Bulgarian Split Squats

Around the next corner was backs to wall and pushups with feet on wall.

Last stop before heading back to flag was a stop at the block pile for some arm work.

Took turns calling out exercises to end the day. Waterbug called out "Hillbilly's" and everyone just stood with WTH look as he performed a demonstration. Head was the only one that didn't get the memo about staying off the ground today calling out LBC / BigBoy combo. He gets a pass as he just getting back in the grove after a year off for one injury after another. Everyone knows he just likes going to Yoga classes instead of F3.

Devo: Didn't really plan one out but for a non planned out one must have been OK since it received the Purrty stamp of approval of the Book Of Face!

Thank the guys for showing up week after week no matter the conditions.

M asked as I was heading out after lunch with workout clothes

M: "You going to workout today?

Me: Yes

M: "You crazy as He!!"

Me: One things for sure I won't be the only one, if I'm the only one I'll meet you at happy hour!

Gave my Thanks again to the guys of F3 for helping me find my way back into the Church,  Shoutout to Divac!! Spoke about how every Sunday is like brand new for me because I sure don't remember much from 30 years ago and as I got older I was most likely more worried about what lil girls were in Sunday school rather than paying attention.  The past 20 years I still believed but got out of the habit of going and just always had an excuse of why not to go. One reason was, I grew up Southern Baptist and my wife was Pentacostal Holiness. Nothing wrong with either one neither of us were really willing to give the other ones a real shot. When I saw some random invites to the group from Divac about One Church events or services I started asking some questions and before we knew it we were hooked and excited about going again.

Ended with encouraging the guys if they have strayed away from church to try and find one that meets your needs and likes and get back to starting your week off on the Right Foot!

Prayed it out!

Revolution Pep Rally

After back to back guest Q’s, thanks to Groundblind and Divac I had some big shoes to fill. Had to pull an audible on my Q from what I had planned and come up with something quick with the Pep Rally taking over our grounds. So it went something like this.

With flag in hand we took off on a lil mosey to the Vista Pond located a few blocks away which worked out great for a few reasons.

We saw one of the most amazing sunsets.  "Life's Extra's"

Hartsville CSAUP event "The Fox"  is in February and I need all the cardio I can get.

The Thang

Complete 1st exercise, run a lap, move to 2nd exercise, run a lap and so on.  From start to finish according to a couple fitbit's this totaled around 2 1/2 miles if you completed the list once. This means we need to add atleast 7 more miles to this to prepare for the "Fox".

  • 20 Squat Jumps
  • 40 Merkins
  • 30 Big Boy Situps
  • 30 Jumping Jacks
  • 20 High Plank to Low Plank
  • 20 Monkey Humpers
  • 30 Sumo Squats
  • 15 Donkey Kicks
  • 20 V Ups
  • 20 Burpees
  • 40 Mountain Climbers (single count)

If you get done cut reps in half and start over until time called ( I think about 3-4 finished and started over, way to push guys!)

We run back to our stomping grounds and finished up with some Mary to the beat of the drums coming from the Pep Rally for Lazy Boy's upcoming Devo, I mean in honor Hartsville High Football team playing for the 4A State Championship this Saturday. (I hear some tailgating will take place beforehand by some fellow F3 brothers, I love some tailgating!!!)

We named our FNG, Bubbles. The young guys named him after some character from the show "Trailer Park Boys". Once I saw the pic, this had to be one of the best names to come out of Revolution.

All kids on the Christmas list will receive gifts, Shout out to all the Hartsville AO's and the third F's for making this happen.

Sign up for "The FOX"

Still waiting on final proof for  Revolution T-shirt design. Will start taking orders once in hand.

Trying to get some of the younger guys involved in Q's so I twisted the shy, quiet LazyBoy's arm into doing the Devo. (Something I learned at our Local Q School this past Saturday.)

LazyBoy's Devo (in the voice of motivational speaker)

Fellas, when Powder asked to me to give this devo I was honored and excited and I knew immediately where I wanted to go, but I wasn't sure how to get there. Recently I read the F3 book "Freed to Lead" and I just. Keep. Going. Back to it. One portion in particular: the concept of the "dolphin". The "dolphin" is the task each man was uniquely born to perform. The idea comes from that no matter how hard a man tries he'll never be as proficient or natural a swimmer as a dolphin is. Swimming is the dolphin's "dolphin". But there is something out there that comes to each man as swimming comes to the dolphin and what we wanna do is pinpoint what that is and use it. It takes NUTS to come out here so I know nobody in this circle is afraid of a challenge so I've got one for ya and I'm gonna do this too, after you leave here tonight sit down for a second and think about what your dolphin is and then set out first thing tomorrow morning to put that bad boy to work. Coach Jim Harbaugh talks about "attacking each day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind" and if we do that, we're all winners as soon as our feet hit the floor.... LazyBoy

Low turn out on Election Day (@Revolution)

Last minute Q fill in for Purrrrty Mouth who claimed he had to keep his kid and back out of Q'ing, we all know it was more of staying home to protect his Trump yard sign, banner and the big Trump Flag flying above his house. In case you didn't know Purrrty mouth lives next to one of the election poll locations in town. If you voted at the Armory you most likely couldn't miss the "Make America Great Again" playing over a loud speaker from Purrty's house as he broadcast live from the Book of Face. Enough on why Purrty stood Revolution up.

I knew this afternoon would be odd. Election Day and the first Revolution workout since the time changed. My first  Revolution night workout since joining F3. Chainsaw and I were standing around waiting on everyone to show up and with 5 mins before go time it still look like it would be just me and Chainsaw. That's when Scout walked up smelling like bengay and  what we thought was "Tater Tights" on but after further inspection we realized it was just knee wraps blending in with his shorts.  Scout at the age of 53 was the second oldest to participate in the GoRuck event this past weekend so we will give him a few days to recover. (I would of had to take a week off)

Major T-Claps to all the Pax who completed the GoRuck this weekend. I thought about you guys often during that night. After my M and I stood and passed out bottles of water to you all on Gandy at about 12:30am, we walked back to the house trying to figure out what all we had just saw. Ropes, boards, buckets, ect... Not sure if my street will ever smell the same!

Seven of us showed up, this the lowest turnout for Revolution since I started in March. We will chalk it up to everyone going to Purrty's Election watch party and the time change throwing things off.

Warmup: Penningtons, Chopwood, and 2 mosey laps ending at the coupon pile.

The Thang: Clock workout.  Variety of 12 exercises put in a large circle. Pax moved to each station for 1 minute before taking your cylinder and moving to the next station. Normally you can leave the cylinder at each station in this style workout but the lack of pax to fill up all 12 stations lead to taking your coupon with you.  After round 1, a quick lap around park before Round 2. This round was 30 secs with everyone being pushed to do as many reps possible. Ended with another lap around park. Trying to work myself up to run the Turkey Trot since I've never entered any sort of race that involved running.  I HATE RUNNING!

Ended with some quotes from former Presidents and prayer for the country as we move into this next phase in everyone's life.

“The greatness comes not when things go always good for you, but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take some knocks, some disappointments, when sadness comes; because only if you’ve been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain… Always give your best. Never get discouraged. Never be petty. Always remember: Others may hate you. But those who hate you don’t win, unless you hate them. And then, you destroy yourself.” – Richard Nixon

“I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.” – Ronald Reagan

“When one side only of a story is heard and often repeated, the human mind becomes impressed with it insensibly.” – George Washington

Revolution after Hurricane Matthew

Using the power of my generator to type this and feeling lucky to have survived the storm with  my family uninjured and minimal damage to my house I thank God for watching over us.

Hurricane Matthew tried it's best to destroy our community.  Sunday many of our F3 brothers were helped out all over the community. I went  to my parents to enjoy electricity and had a warm meal at my parents house, decided to stay and watch my Gamecocks play football and try to feel a little normalcy. (Should have left after the warm meal) Feeling bad about not getting out and helping really wore on me.

Luckily I had the Q Tuesday afternoon. With so much recovery needing to be done and not enough time to put together a good plan we sent out a message that I wasn't sure where we hold Revolution but we would lift heavy things and make the best out of the daylight hours. About 4:30 without a plan we asked who needed some help and Stallion said his yard still needed a lot of work. Not knowing who could show up I sent out a message to meet at Stallion's house. Just finding open roads to get into the Prestwood area was a challenge.

I couldn't believe my eyes driving into the area seeing so many houses with trees on them. The path's people had to cut down the streets to just get cars a path to travel. The major cutting had was done Sunday so moved lots of large debris, brush piles, torn up trampoline, ect... Our last item was limb that was about 1ft or more in diameter stuck in the ground. We all took turns pushing and pulling and digging around but at the end of day the best move was made to work smarter not harder so a truck and chain was hooked to try and drag the limb out of the ground. After several tries we were able to loosen it up enough to pull up by hand. You could see the sense of accomplishment on everyones face when it finally come out. The thing was a solid 5ft in the ground. By the time we move this object Tool Bag and Sparkplug had raked the whole back yard. Stallion laughed and said this was the best the yard had looked since he moved in minus the massive pile of wood.

At the end of the day we were able to get the yard safe for his kids to return home and safely play in the backyard.

Since Saturday our Groupeme app has been full of request to go and help people in the community in need. Every request has been answered quickly with many of them are very serious situations.

Announcements: Saturday no convergence workout, instead we are having a Saturday Cleanup Day planned in the community

No Devo was needed Tuesday, just showing up showed your devotion

Game of Cornhole

Sunny and Hot

Warmup - short to save time for the main thang.

IC 20 Penningtons Forward/Reverse

IC 20 Chopwood

2 laps around the park ending with picking up a cylinder block and hustle back to the park

14 joined in for what I thought would be some good competition at a modified game of cornhole.

Asked the Pax that hadn't Q'd before to step forward and count off and help lead your assigned team when waiting on the six. We had 4 or 5 step forward. When I clarified this was for the ones that had never Q'd, not just Revolution this group still included Chainsaw? (He seemed to enjoy his leadership roll on his team team today!)

After everyone split in to two teams we ended up with 8 on 6, I volunteered to even out the teams. Bad Mistake of my part. My team couldn't hit the broad side of barn if they tried. Needless to say we "Got Better Today" just not at cornhole.

How the game worked:

Team 1 - Board A      Team 2 - Board B

Team 1 throws first , if sac lands on  board B -  Team 2 has to do the full amount of reps while Team 1 does half the reps then various exercises such as planking, running in place, jumping jacks, ect led by the virgin Q's

Next Team 2 throws and the cycle continues.

If Team 1 makes it in the hole Team 2 has to do 5 burpees, also had a rule in place if 4 sacs were on the board at the same time = 10 burpee bonus (This rule was not needed!)

Sticking with the scoring system of cornhole a list of exercises were given to each team with a suggested number of 21. Both teams were instructed they could up the number or change the exercise at anytime. Boy was that other team not only feeling froggy but backed it up! My team tried to up the challenge a few times, but failed to land it on the board each and everytime! Not only did it not stay on the board but we failed to hit the board a most of the time! LOL

List of suggested exercises

Goblet Squats, Curls, Overhead Press, Bigboy sit ups, Merkins, Squats, Flutter Kicks, Hartsville Hammers, Bear Crawl, Carolina Dry Dock, Imperial Walkers, Mountain Climber, 2 lap run

Audit and Woodchip both issued a couple of challeges and succeeded each and everytime!

Audit  sent a challenge of 40 merkins to us showing no mercy, right after we finished a round of merkins.

Time we got back from running our 2 laps and still trying catch our breath Woodchip hit us with a 4 lap challenge.  With smart thinking from Waterbug, a condition was added the the winning team would do burpees while waiting on the six. Halfway thru the first lap Woodchip yelled he was reducing the laps to 2 and 1 due to the lack of time left. I think the thought of how many burpees he would have to do waiting on our beatdown team to run 4 laps.

To finish us off Audit called out 40 merkin challege. 10 Diamond, 10 Ranger, 10 Wide, 10 normal.

Those guys dont miss!!!

I'm one that loves any kind of game so I try to mix it up in my Q's, never read about this one being done and wasn't sure how it would be received. Everyone seemed to have a good time and work hard. Next time Woodchip and Audit will be on opposite teams!

Ended the day with Pledge of Allegiance to the flag flying high above Revolution since someone forgot the flag!

Devo: In remembrance of 9/11 coming this Sunday. Inspirational Quotes from some former leaders of the U.S. and ones that lost their loved ones during this attack were read. This was one day everyone could remember exactly where they were when it happen except for "Mooch"(he gets a pass since he was 3).  Reminded the guys to live everyday day likes it your last and to make the most out of it.

Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: ‘Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.’
– President George W. Bush on Sept. 11, 2001.

Chilly Jacks – IC

Chop wood - IC

Transition: Ring of Fire with some Bodies Hitting the Floor!

1st round:    While holding plank, in turn, each Pax does 5 CDDs next PAX (starting to feel the burn with 17 pax)
2nd round:     Everyone on their 6 and hold legs at 6 inches while, in turn, 2 Pax do 5 Burpees and so on around the circle. This one really started some mumble chatter, did I mention we had 17 pax!
3rd round: Ring of Fire Song:      Took turns doing 2 pushups the next time around  4 then 6 then 8  Broke into two smaller circles  for this one. Circles were able to get up to the round of 8 pushups. Lots of mumble chatter about this being an extended version of the song. At this point 2 1/2 mins seemed like forever

4th round Bodies Hit the Floor:    This was done to the song Bodies by Drowning Pool (3:21). Start in plank position. When the song says "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" do a Donkey Kick (26 Total). When the song counts (1, 2, 3, 4) do a Merkin (21 Total).  The goal was to not let the bodies hit the floor, mission not accomplished. Can only imagine what people riding by had to think.

“My speech and my proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a powerful demonstration by the Spirit, so that your faith might not be based on men’s wisdom but on God’s power.” 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Eric Liddell, former Olympic runner, received national attention in Paris when, in the 1924 Summer Olympics, he refused to run the 100-meter race—his best event—because it was set to take place on a Sunday. Liddell was a devout Christian and was determined to put God and his faith in front of his career as a runner.

Liddell went on not only to win, but also set the Olympic and world record in the 400-meter race later on in those Summer Olympics with a time of 47.6 seconds. After the race, Liddell described his running strategy:

“The secret of my success over the 400-meter is that I run the first 200 meters as fast as I can. Then, for the second 200 meters, with God’s help I run faster.”

The sooner we realize that true power doesn’t come from ourselves but from God, the sooner God’s true power will be shown through us. In his missionary trip to Corinth, Paul realized that it was not his eloquent speech that convinced the Corinthians of the truth of the gospel, but it was the power of Christ working through Paul’s weakness.

May we try not only to rely on our own abilities in living out God’s will for our lives. We need Christ, our Savior, and as soon as we recognize that, we then open up the door for Him to work through us so people may know His name and His power.

Thanks to all that continue to come out and push each other to get better!

Little Game of High/Low

Conditions: Heat Index pushing close to 110

Warmup – not needed, see conditions above

The Thing:

Deck of cards spread out on the ground in middle of field. (wasn’t expecting wind which blew the cards around some and felt like it wasn't coming from the Sahara Desert)
Everyone started around the cards by calling out someone to compete against in the first round.
Rest of the rounds, just random according to who makes it back to the cards to compete.
If you had the high card, off to the side of the field with the cylinder blocks you went, low card headed to opposite side of field.
Plenty of exercises with a multiplier number on each side of the field.
Luck / unluck of the draw to how many of you had to do.
Example: “Curls” multiplier number was 2 so your 9 of hearts got you 18 curls before heading back for your next draw.

Wild cards:
Deuces, one eyed jacks and jokers – this card was used to give your opponent 5 burpees and you a moment to catch your breath!
Lots of mumble chatter when this happen.

If two pax drew the same number, both did 5 burpees before redrawing. (amazing how many times this happen)

After 15 mins a small water break was taken. Did I mention it was HOTTTT!!!!
Most were able to complete both the High and Low list before time was finally called.

High Card Side (all done with cylinder blocks)
Goblet Squats x 3
Curls x 2
Overhead Press x 2
Bench Press x 3
Dips x 3
Flutter Kicks x 4
Burpees x 1
Hartsville Hammers x 2
Behind Head Press x 2

Low Card Side

What do YOU want out of life?

Are you making it happen, or are you waiting for the perfect opportunity? What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do but “haven’t got around to it yet”? Maybe it’s traveling to Hawai, driving cross country, or coaching your kid’s t-ball team. Perhaps it’s completing a triathlon, skydiving, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, starting a business, or even something as simple as going on a date, taking dance lessons, or taking a cooking class with your spouse. Whatever it is, stop waiting and start acting because you never know what could happen tomorrow.

Life is too dang short, and too dang precious to wait until tomorrow. You could be alive today and hit by a bus tomorrow (I know this would be hard in Hartsville but you get the point), you really just never know. Today’s workout may have been doing what I can to help your fitness and feel better about yourself, but really it’s just removing any barriers that prevent you from living a life you can look back on with pride. I hope to look back on my life at the age of 93 age of my grandfather and say “I did it right.” If I don’t make it that long, that’s okay: as long as each day is lived with conviction and purpose, I can leave this world happy.

That means no regrets, tons of memories, and one gigantic smile

It’s time to start living a better life today, because tomorrow might not come and “eventually” never happens.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.     Colossians 3:23-24

One Last Note:
Revolution had 29 pax brave the afternoon heat between Tuesday and Thursday with some double downs. This was surely the hottest week of Revolution yet, and we still tied our best day Tuesday with 18. That says it all about the brotherhood we have here in the Ville!
Proud to call all of you my Brother!!!!
